In this paper we present a critical review of essential data on thephysics and chemistry of low pressure glow discharges of GeH4 that are usedto deposit hydrogenated amorphous germanium films a-GeH Here weanalyze the surface processes and reaction probabilities of molecules ionsand radicals Gas phase elementary processing analysis is conducted onelectron molecule collisions An updated table of thermochemical data isused to analyze the gas-phase elementary processes consisting of ion-molecule collisions and neutral-neutral collisions Other electron and ioncollisions involving electron-ion and ion-ion recombination electronattachment on radicals and detachment of anions have also been reportedStudy of cluster growth kinetics in dusty plasmas is conducted in order tofurther enhance the applicability and relevance of this study Experimentaldata or theoretical estimates are given Further these are discussed withregard to cross sections collision and reaction rate constants andtransport coefficients In the perturbed distribution functions in f drift-kinetic Monte Carlo simulations we excluded explicitly the Pfirsch-Schlterdiffusion off-diagonal neoclassical transport coefficients and Spitzerterms for quasi-symmetric toroidal plasmas thus confirming geometric factorconstancy in the exact axisymmetric limit The formal decomposition of theentropy-production rate with a banana plateau and with the Pfirsch-Schlterfluxes derived by Sugama and Horton theoretically explains the importanceof excluding these collisional contributions The numerically realizedconstancy of the geometric factor obtained with DKE1 in the exact symmetriclimit would be useful for simulation studies of quasi-symmetricstellarators The development of steady state operation heating fuelingdiverters plasma wall interaction
