I have heard about Socrates since I got titled student He left a lot of good sayings to posterities and people have been studying his philosophy He talked with many scholars through various questions to have the clear results His speech is well known among many educators because it is effective to teach and realize concept specifically One of the good conversations to get enlightenment is with Euthyphro Euthyphro was being criticized because he prosecuted his father who murdered someone and Socrates was accused by Meletus They stand on directly-opposed situation so that tried to figure out essence of piety connecting with holiness in their discussion It seems that Socrates and Euthyphro have different view of holiness Euthyphro said that piety means holiness In other words if something is holy it is righteous The first definition Euthyphro suggested is that the only thing gods adore is holy thing gods do not pleasure is unholy Gods love anything whether human or things holy and what they do not is unholy Socrates reverses that it is hard to figure out which action or attitude is holy not likely math or scientific because the standards of holiness could be flexible depending on which gods judge This argument is based on the plurality of gods Because gods are not one and they have their own individual identities their thought could be different in the same situation This fact brings confusion from nature of holiness For example Zeus might be pleased about decision of Euthyphro but it cannot be holy for other gods Euthyphro said that anyone who committed murder should be punished therefore his decision that accusing father is righteous and holyEverything gods want is holy this is the second definition they drew Socrates asked Euthyphro that gods admit holy but ungodliness is unpardonable and Euthyphro agreed this statement Namely Euthyphro thought even though each of gods has different judge about holy all they prefer is holy However
