In the warm spring of 1975 the end of a long war was approaching For many years the jungles of southern Vietnam had been a battle zone The United States of America had long since retired from this war From the fall of Hue in mid March 1975 the American government had given up on the conflict in Vietnam The troops and government had been on the defensive or run from March until the 30th of April in 1975 Also the American Government had cut down the funding and support Also there was a slow withdrawal of troops from the Northern Territories that fanned the fire under the Tet Offensive Because of these reasons and many more It is obvious that America had already given up on the war In the early years Vietnam was a series of skirmishes The Vietnam War was never really a war The congress of the United States never really declared war on the Vietcong The Vietcong were the communist north of the country backed by Russia and China supposedly The Vietnamese Republic was the south part of Vietnam Ever since the end of the Korean War a mass of American troops had been slowly gathering in the Country created by America and France The reason the country was created was because it was a With a weak government and many resources as well as a highly strategic location the Vietnamese republic made a great attack target Therefore America sent troops to protect it from the Communist empires to the west On the Vietnamese New Year in 1968 the Tet Offensive burst into flames with the Vietcong attack that would eventually end the conflict Through 6 years of the Tet Offensive there was widespread fighting and guerilla warfare The conflict in Vietnam for the first time ever was televised In reaching homes of America it was not only a war fought in Vietnam the hippie movement put fire in
