The relentless story of Popocatpetl and Ixtacihuatal told by the Aztecs is an iconic work of myth and realistic fiction After evaluating the story the reader may interpret that the characters are human but have inhumane capabilities such as supernatural strength and folkloric thinking Not only do they have that but also live in a world like the present one and face conflicts similar to humans nowadays This characterizes the story explicitly as a combination of a myth and realistic fiction Firstly Popocatpetl and Ixtacihuatal evolves around an immensely mythical and realistic plot The events that transpire in the story are inadequate but can be relative to humans The conflicts that the characters face in the story are unrealistic and mythological like when the jealous warriors lied to the king proclaiming Popos death which caused the ill-fated princesses heart to break and her death Moreover the resolution of the plot involves supernatural elements such as when Popo stands holding a torch above the pile of stones in memory of Ixta Snow covered both pyramids up until they transformed into two volcanic mountainsSecondly Not only is the plot both realistic fiction and a myth but also the setting has a part of both The story takes place in and around the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan located on an island in Lake Texcoco in the Valley of Mexico The Aztecs in the ancient times told people the story of the two mountains Popocatpetl The Smoking Mountain and Ixtacihuatal White Woman the Nahua romance of the princess Iztacchuatl and the warrior PopocatpetlLastly Both the main characters and the minor have mythical and human qualities For instance nowadays we dont have warriors witch doctors princesses and emperors This manifests the mythical side of the story Although they were humans had human abilities and not supernatural powers
