President Madison seemed to follow Washingtons advice to avoid entangling alliances the least by involving the US in the war of 1812 against Britain The Neutrality Imperative was dictated not to the US in war with other alliances while it should be more for the best interests of the US and not for a group of people 1812 war was declared by Madison against the Great Britain one of the major powers of that era He changed his strategy of being away from war with Britain which later onthe congress approved that as well His view of the war was away from the Jeffersons view of being neutral economically with Britain nor France There were some reasons for that such as the British harassment a chance to defeat Britain and revenge Britain was harassing US by threatening its trading ways on the sea and inciting the south and west territories against it beside that Britain had posited in the northwest supported Indians in the northwest and southwest and the impressments of seamen in the northeast and south Page33Despite Madisons war act he wanted to expand the US territories in the south and west This desire of expanding the territories misled him to focus the major turn of the country which was about to achieve its independency and the economical situation that the country was going through The consequences of this war were huge because the capital was burn and the country lost many battles another fact was that the US forces were inefficient and poorly organized
