The Choice is YoursDid you know that each year more than one million one in ten teens become pregnant And 80 of these pregnancies are unplanned Many of these teens find themselves in a single parenting situation Although this number is pretty shocking its not surprising It seems like every time you turn around a peer or mutual friend becomes pregnant The choice to have sex is difficult enough let alone actually becoming pregnant as a teenager and making the choice of whether to keep the baby If you do decide to have sex make sure you know the consequences the facts and be aware of what youre doing Having sex increases your chances of getting an unplanned pregnancy STD or STI Having a baby requires allot of time effort and money Being a teenager can be tough and expensive you want to have fun with your friends go to the mall go to the movies pay for recreational activities shopping homecoming prom and college If you have a baby you wont be able to spend allot of time with your friends youll have to find a baby sitter and youll have to buy that child food clothes shoes and you may not have time for friends anymore all your time will be dedicated to the baby The key steps in preventing an unplanned pregnancy are not having sex just because heshe tells you they love you knowing yourself and doing whats best for youOne of the main reasons a teenage girl decides to have sex with her boyfriend is because he tells her that he loves her When youre in that situation and youve been dating the guy for a long time the decision to have sex can be tough But if youre not ready for sex dont feel bad A huge part of a healthy relationship is respect each person should value who the other person is and understand the other
