People usually have problems that cause them stress and anxiety the good news is that these problems can be treated if they start becoming a habit and a part of their lives One way to treat these conflicts is with the use of psychotherapy After reading about various of the models of psychotherapy I have become extremely interested on the procedures and ideas different types of therapists have on how to approach their clients problems Family therapists have been those who have interested me the most because I believe that most of the problems in peoples lives begin in their homes The relationships and interactions between family members cause certain ideas in individuals minds that may last throughout their entire life if they are not treated Many times people dont notice that these problems are a product of their interactions they are not able to recognize their roots so they are stuck in them I have enjoyed reading about all of the various approaches of family therapy and have noticed that most of them even though they may not be entirely focused in the psychoanalytic process they do include it in some way into their models Some of the most influential persons in family psychotherapy were trained psychoanalytically they moved away from these ideas for a while but came back to them later This interest in the individuals psychology is important because problems arise due to past experiences as observed earlier the root isnt discovered Clients have to learn to recognize these experiences and interactions to then be able to work upon them This is where the psychoanalytic family therapist comes into play Psychoanalytic family therapists want to uncover an individuals unconscious desires that restrict them from interacting maturely they discover profound hidden truths about family members fears and desires These impulses can be either strengthened or relaxed for the better comfort of the patient Therapists want to help the individual realize the patterns preventing
