Picture this you are standing in the middle of a concentration camp You and your parents are separated They are sent to the gas chamber and you are sent to work Think about how you would feel if you were faced the task of raising a family after that sort of experience seeing your own parents sent to their deaths It seems pretty hard to comprehend but the survivors of the Holocaust had to do just that even with their fears their memories and their losses For them there were many psychological factors that affected this process and impeded their lives The question I ask is How did these factors affect the survivors and how did these aspects influence the way they raised their second-generation children There are many theories and many stories but it all began when Germany was ruled by the Nazi Party for 12 years The central belief was that there existed in society certain people who were dangerous and needed to be eliminated in order for German society to flourish and survive Over time and location these people varied These people included Gypsies Poles and Russians but especially Jews The Nazi Party condemned the Jews with no escape No action the Jews might have taken to change their behavior or their beliefs made the slightest difference regarding their death warrant There was no escape just endless death They had suffered torture degradation and humiliation at the hands of the Germans and they were robbed of their last shred of dignity with no chance to resist For the condemned there was no judge to whom to appeal for a redress of injustice There was no government from which to ask protection and punishment for the murders There were no neighbors on whose gate to knock and ask for shelter and no God to whom to pray for mercy This attempt at extermination was seen as different from other genocides and massacres An
