In William Shakespeares Macbeth an array of unsuccessful attempts to overcome psychological issues is presented As the three witches cast their first spell good and bad switch roles leading to many tragedies that were influenced by not only Macbeths psychological issues but also other main characters like Lady Macbeth for example When introduced to the prophecies by the witches Macbeth begins to be possessed by his conscience and a modern day television show type argument between his shoulder devil and angel arises As the tragedies continue Macbeths mentality is slowly deteriorating causing others to be affected like his wife In addition to these failures to overcome the issues some psychological issues were successfully overcome allowing some other characters continue their lives and stay longer than suspected The psychological issues that were presented show that one small bad thing can evolve and begin to impact anyone Macbeth comes to understand that he must contain his actions not only to protect others but himself After meeting with the three witches and learning about the prophecies Macbeth begins to have inner debates with the angel and devil within him His first psychological issue was determining whether or not he should murder Duncan after he falsely appointed a new king After proposing his idea to his wife Lady Macbeth she begins to act like the man of the house the reason being that prior to this Lady Macbeth was unsexed and filled from the crown of to the toes top-full of direst cruelty Shakespeare 1544-46 She begins to think that she is greater than everyone else and begins to abuse her given traits her gender for example and uses them to keep Macbeth and herself out of trouble and alive An example of this is when Macbeth is moments away from potentially being caught for the tragedies he has caused and Lady Macbeth pretends to faint in order to drag everyones attention from Macbeth This is showing
