The word Puritan is a term given to the people escaping religious persecution in England The Puritans wanted to come to America to purify their religion and their beliefs The puritans wanted to come to America to start a new life They also wanted to start their own religion which broke away from the Church of England The Puritans did not believe in all the teachings that the Church of England taught The Puritans came to America for a better life and to spread their religionThe Puritans were a group of people who did not like the teachings of the Church of England The Puritans wanted to come to America to start their own religion They wanted to have a better life with the religion they believed in The Puritans focused of faith and daily life They also believed in a theocracy which is a country that is ruled by religious leaders Merriam- Webster The Puritans had a plain and simple life The Puritans had a doctrine of predestination which says that if the puritans do good in their community and in their spiritual life that they would be apart of the elect The elect are people who are predestined to be with God after they die If a Puritan is part of the damned there is nothing that person can do to be apart of the elect that is why it is called predestination Normally the wealthy were already blessed by God and would be apart of the elect The puritans had a hard work ethic which means they were always trying to do good and honor God which they thought would mean that they would get a reward from God The Puritans wanted to come to America to purify their religion They also wanted to live their own simple lives Coming to America was the Puritans opportunity to do so They came to America because they wanted to practice their teachings on literature
