Racism and discrimination is not only a problem present in conflicted countries but it is also seen in peaceful countries such as Canada One may think that Canada is an open minded country that is clean of racism that may be some what the case today however the certainly was the case in the past Canada has taken part in many racist acts in their disgraced past that proclaim them as a racist country Throughout Canadian history there are evident events that show how Canada treated people that were of different appearance and different religion The fact that Canada tried all means possible to forbid immigrants from countries besides Europe from coming to Canada since they believed they were more superior to others also demonstrates that fact that Canada was a very racist country One of the most prominent and known reasons as to why Canada was a racist country is because of what they did to the Japanese people in the past since they were of different appearance than most other Canadians Japanese Canadians were taken away from their families and possessions In World War 2 work camps were set up throughout the country by the government many Japanese communities in Canada were detained and their property was confiscated they had lower living standard than other Canadians Unlike the United States of America who tried to keep families together in these camps Canada displaying their racism separated families purposely The only reason Canada made these camps so harsh was because they wanted to show the Japanese Canadians the price they had to pay if they wanted to live in Canada Japanese people were not subject to the camps because of their actions but rather becauseof their appearance and race Canada was very focused on getting rid of Japanese people especially after World War Two or at least get them far away from the coast as possible since they believed themselves to be
