Ever since railroadshave been around they have made traveltransport and trade a lot easier faster and more efficientSince railroads came around in 1804 railroads have grown andexpanded through out all of the United StatesRailroads came around in 1804 Various inventors experimentedwith model roadways until 1825 In 1825 John Stevens built atest track and ran a locomotive around it This showed that itwas possible to use railroads as efficient transport The firstlocomotive to run on a rail track was built in 1804 theninventors went off of that model to better improve railroadsThe Baltimore and Ohio railroad opened in 1827 Other railroadssoon opened after it including the Camden and Amboy in 1832The first successful venture carrying goods from QuincyMassachusetts to Boston in 1827 Railroads soon became popularbecause they were a quick cheap and mostly safe way ofcarrying people and goodsIn 1830-1860 enormous railway buildings were being built in theStates Railroads soon replace canals as a primary mode oftransportation Some years later George Fullman transformedregular supply trains into comfortable passenger trains In1869the first public locomotives were made available to the publicpeople As train and rail services improved it became possiblefor people to go on a seaside or a country holiday for exampleSoon railroads replaced canals and became an important way oftravelingThe benefits ofrailroads were the speed and efficiencythattrains provided in trade and transportation What used totake week s and even months now with trains this could bedone fast and could take hours or mere daysSupplies traveledfaster and so did mail Families could travel across thecountry to see each otherThe cons of having railroads is that they are expensive anddifficult to build and maintain Also when they are about tobe built it causesthe displacement of many people and theirhomesAnother con is that as efficient as railroads are is atrack is damaged it can stop or really delay a train Manypeople or many tons of freight can be inconvenienced if therail line is damaged and theres no redundancy availableBefore railroads
