Who knew that children would teach me some of the most valuable lessons I have learned At this time a few years ago I would not believe that I am the way I am now I now show my love for life much more by my every day actions and my newly formed ambition I had a once in a life time experience that shaped me to who I am today Last February I attended a mission trip to Guyana South America with five other girls in my junior class at Ursuline Academy and a few chaperones We went on this mission trip to diverge in a new culture and provide service to Guyanese citizens I was selected for this adventure after going through an application process and I am extremely delighted that I was chosen for this experience While in Guyana I visited a small interior village called Karasabai and the capitol city Georgetown People in these two cities which most people go through their whole life without even hearing their names affected me in ways unexpected While in Georgetown I had the opportunity to tutor and play with children at an orphanage These children taught me so much more than I could have possibly taught them They showed me how to love life while owning little to nothing One day while I was there I helped a several older children teach younger children how to play volleyball This alone was enjoyable but the part that was the most unordinary to me was the equipment that the children used Their volley ball was barely inflated enough to hit and their net was a swing set I learned that community is an essential part of life by watching the children help each other Without other peoples help I would not achieve anything in life Also the childrens inventive qualities helped me to realize how spoiled I act when I do not have something that I
