How does Waynes World and Rush Hour 3 demonstrate the conventions of comedyComedy films are a distinct genre of film that is designed to make the audience laugh Mike Myers Waynes World and Brett Ratners Rush Hour 3 uses a variety of comedic conventions to create humour Catchphrases stereotypes and realism are all techniques used in the films to evoke laughterStereotypes contribute to the humour in both films especially in Rush Hour 3 Both main characters of the film Inspector Lee and Detective Carter personify numerous Asian and African American stereotypes The two police officers that try to find a gang of assassins in France are almost complete opposites Lee is an intelligent man who is a master at martial arts while Carter is a loud impulsive and childish man who slangs his speech Carter then tends to stir up trouble then blame it on his partner Lee Carters comedic way of talking provides continuous entertaining scenes while Lees characteristics allow the audience to easily relate to their experiences with Asian people creating humour Other minor characters also show racial stereotypes where the French are all arrogant individuals with thick accents that smoke often On the other hand Mike Myers romantic comedy Waynes World stereotypes the average teenager Wayne and Garth are big fans of rock music that spends their time ogling celebrities playing air guitars and making fun of adults Wayne is an arrogant immature character while Garth is a nerdy awkward character that is more comfortable around his pet dog than other humans Their personalities are well shown when Wayne insults the sponsor of his show by writing messages such as Sphincter Boy and This man blows goats-I have proof on his cue cards as a joke When Wayne becomes fired Garth noticeably panics and stiffly tries to continue the show Although their personalities are exaggerated most audiences will be able to relate and recognise this as everyone has once
