The school I was assigned to do my observation hours is calledEight Corners Primary School and is located in ScarboroughMaineBefore even stepping foot off campus I was curious as towhat the school would be like The name especially made mecurious because back home all the schools I know are namedafter the town I wasnt sure if it was going to be a privateschool or a specialty type of school I googled the name andfound that it was kindergarten through second grade schoolwhich I found really interesting because generally I have knownonly of kindergarten through sixth gradeWhen I arrived at the school it was just about nine oclock inthe morning and all the students were arriving at the same timeas I was The school appeared small from the outside I walkedin among all of the students which I found to be funny becausethey were all so little compared to me and stared up at me likeI was some alien or unknown creatureAs soon as I opened thedoor the front desk of the office was directly to my rightand there stood two or three secretaries who were greeting thechildren with big smiles The secretaries were extremelyfriendly and all of the children were eager to get theirattention and tell them the latest news from the day beforeThere was immediately a very personal feel to the school Iintroduced myself and they were excited to hear about mybackground It was very reassuring to have such a welcomingfeel so soon They helped me to sign in and directed me to theclassroomAs I walked down the hallway I was surrounded by youngchildren which was expected in a kindergarten through secondgrade school The hallway was decorated with artwork thatrepresented the learning taking place in the classrooms As Iheaded throughout the halls eventually I found the classroomof Jessica Deans the kindergarten teacher I was observing Shewas seated at her desk and as soon as she saw me she greeted meand introduced herself She was
