Bridget's feedback:
"Your reader leaves this essay informed thanks to your clear writing style, good control over the mechanics, and a balanced and focused presentation. The essay starts rather abruptly, so I recommend spending a little time deciding how to ease the reader into the discussion. If your opening is appropriate to your assignment or prompt, that's fine. If you need a hook-style opening, you might consider moving forward the information on poaching (currently at the end).
To touch briefly on the ending, the essay ends rather abruptly on the note about combatting poaching. I recommend either crafting a separate concluding paragraph or, at the very least, a single final sentence that captures some sense of or movement toward wrapping up the argument. In light of the current ending, you might comment on the future of elephants (e.g., "...by the president. This action will be vital for future survival."). I also want to comment on the paragraph that covers birth, growth, and special features. This is a pretty long paragraph that can be productively split in two (starting a new paragraph with "The elephant's body has many special features...")."
