Shakespeares Sonnet was a psychological insight of himself The English dramatist and poet William Shakespeare was the author of the most widely admired and influential body of literature by any individual in the history of Western civilization However perhaps he was only well known for many plays that represent romantic love His treatment of love ranges from the humorous in the comedy to the sad and tragic in the melodramas tragedies of Romeo and Juliet or Othello and Desdemona Although not many people heard about the Sonnets that Shakespeare wrote however for those who have read the Sonnet would agree that Shakespeare was also passionate about the love between friends The Sonnets described the devotion of a poet to a young man whose beauty and virtue he praises It was because the Sonnets were written with such passionate intensity it shows the psychological insight of the author Shakespeare himself Since it was highly unlikely that Shakespeare ever wished to publish the poems he probably never arranged them into an artistic order There is no evidence even that he would have thought this was a proper thing to do There are few readings of the Sonnets that do not implicitly assume that Shakespeares prime intention was to create art few that would care to entertain the notion that he may have been writing primarily for himself The art perhaps was incidental and arises from the intensity the seriousness of the poets approach It is less a matter of making sense of his condition then teaching himself to act correctly in his situation Shakespeare makes it clear in various Sonnets that he was writing to one person only For instance Sonnet 18 perhaps Shakespeares most famous Shall I compare thee to a summers day Thou art more lovely and more temperate So long as men can breathe or eyes can see So long lives this and this gives life to thee This Sonnet was
