Charlie Dalton and Richard Cameron two people so alike both studentsat Welton Academy coming from well off families that have very highexpectations for them However they are so very different from oneanother day and night dark and light extreme opposites in the way thatthey handle every situation Mr Keating the new English teacher atWelton is a conspicuous Transcendentalist one of the first things heteaches them is the idea of carpe diem or seizing the day both boysperceive this in distinct ways The boys have discovered the Dead PoetsSociety a club that is everything Welton isnt its free thinking andseizing the day Charlie and Cameron both play very apparent roles inthe club After the suicide of Neil all of the boys are faced with oneof the hardest decisions they will ever have to make and at this time itis when the two display how undoubtably different they really areCharlie Dalton and Richard Cameron two people so alike in the way thatthey are different both extreme opposites of one another they areproof that you can pretend to be someone and believe in something butyou show who you truly are when put into a situation which makes youquestion your morals Carpe diem to seize the day Mr Keating an avid transcendentalist onthe first day of class teaches something to his class that will stay inthe back of some of their minds forever while others will merely brushit off and move on to the next assignment Throughout the entire movieCharlie can be seen carpe dieming taking it to an extreme soextreme it nearly cost him his education at Welton Caught up in thisnew way of thinking he writes a letter to the newspaper asking for theadmittance of girls to the school he then stands up in the middle ofthe assembly pretending to answer a phone saying Mr Nolan had aphone call from God and he says they should have girls at WeltonHowever Richard affectionately known to his peers as
