Peoples level of education and awareness over global issues has been rising drastically worldwide over the recent decades The focus on Social and Environmental issues has been a rising debate in many regions and countries around the world Whether its due to media coverage the scarcity of natural resources labor exposure and exploitation or the protection from climate change and water pollution the level of responsibility and sustainability varies from one country to another sometimes even from one city to another The Middle East and North America are two utterly different regions in their style and approach in tackling such issues and concerns This could be related to cultural differences different levels of awareness focus on economic development or the level of corporate and government involvement in environmental and social development projects This Project will focus on the continuesmistreatment of human resources waste of natural resources and pollution of water air and land because of short-term thinking by many organizations and managers believing that social and environmental responsibility costs exceed the benefits they carry for their organizations and societiesThe first section of this paper will define social and environmental responsibility in the Middle East and North America address some of the rising issues in both regions and assess their development overtime and the actions undertaken to limit the impacts of social and environmental issues in both regions Furthermore peoples perception on social and environmental responsibility would be evaluated based on the research study conducted and the examined surveys while the role cultural differences play in sculpturing peoples perception would be assessed based on Geert Hofstedes cultural dimensions and Maslows pyramid of needs Mahatma Ghandi once said Earth provides enough to satisfy every mans needs not every mans greed1 However in the past decades with the globalization of the world the boom in trade and transportation the extraction of energy resources and the growth of several industrialized countries our environment has been overlooked in some stances
