Class Status is a divider for people who live in our society today One would think that health shouldnt matter and be the same for everyone no matter what class there in but thats not the case In chapter two of Class Matters Life at the Top in America Isnt Just Better its Longer Janny Scott tells us about three individuals who have different class statuses Jean G Miele Will L Wilson and Ewa Rynczak Gora who each suffered a heart attack and had different outcomes in how they were treated and how they recovered Some may think if one has money their set for life However one would need more than just money to be well off There are four things that one would need to get ahead and stay there and that is education occupation income and wealth the four main parts that determines ones social classFirst education in Jean G Mieles case he is and architect with a college education his wife and other family members around him were very knowledgeable In addition Miele was better off and able to get the best medical care possible He even knew which hospital that was the best to go to for care when he had his heart attack Mieles brother Joel who is on the chairman of the board of another hospital and ask his hospital president to call the hospital that his brother was at to make sure he was getting the best possible treatment that was available32 Lori Miele who is Jeans wife did research about stents when he was still in the hospital 36 Even his brother-in-law who is a surgeon suggested a few specialists Studies show that people with education money good jobs and connections have the best position to learn new information early modify their behavior and take advantage of the newest treatments 33 With all of the resources that Miele had available to him he only stayed
