Every generation humanity will always find discrimination in differences Within the differences a social hierarchy is created where one social group stands above the others These social hierarchies are then branched into raceculture religion and age Each is different within different era and locations but the higher class will always discriminate the lower class After the Civil Wars and onto the early 1900s there was a vast problem between two color groups the whites on top discriminating the blacks Richard Wright adventured through this nightmare in Black Boy where he must face the social discriminations of southern United States Richard is confused about why in a country that has given equality freedom of speech religion and press must one color groups dominate another As well as why are people are equal but at the same time separated The whites were represented as superiors the blacks were put below the whites and the disbelief in God was seen abnormalIn a country of equality the whites were seen as the superior of society The white community was influenced by false stereotypes of the blacks feeling hostile to them These stereotypes were created in response to denial for blacks being equal to whites For example Wright was anointed the valedictorian of his school in which he must give a speech at graduation The principal offered him a speech that he has written himself Richard refused Then the principal advised him But listen take this speech and say it I know whats best for you You cant afford to just say anything before those white people that night Wright 193 This quote demonstrates how the black community fears the whites Even with the freedom of speech they arent allowed to speak their own mind After getting fired from his job at a thrift store Wright meets up with Griggs Griggs realized Wrights behavior towards the whites which was against the norms of society So Griggs lectured When youre
