I chose to complete my assignment on Friday I began by defining social exchange and what it meant to me which was an interaction between two people that resulted in both parties gaining something While working on this assignment I had many social interactions and exchanges with many individuals ranging from all ages and statues I interacted with professors WKU staff peers and even Warren County residents The first interaction I experienced was a morning meeting with my Research Methods Lab professor This meeting consisted of discussion about my Qualtrics survey assignment From this social exchange there were clearly benefits and costs The meeting helped me gain more knowledge on my professors expectation of the assignment which resulted in me benefiting by receiving a good grade The meeting showed my professor that I take all assignments seriously which was another benefit However a cost I had to endure was getting up at 8am and driving on campus when I usually sleep later Friday mornings since I do not have class When I went to Topper Caf for lunch that afternoon I had a social exchange with a cafeteria worker My physical reward was satisfying my appetite with the Chick-fil-A sandwich and soft drink The cost was the amount of money I had to pay in order to consume the meal Later that evening I helped my roommate with her homework assignment In this exchange I lost instead of gained I was able to help her complete her work but I was unable to go to the mall with friends That afternoon I brought a ticket for the homecoming step show This exchanged possessed a cost and a benefit The first cost I dealt with was whether to attend the comedy show or step show since they both were held on the same day The benefit was getting to watch the step show and having a fun time The cost was paying fifteen dollars for the
