AbstractIn todays business environment and within every supply chain time equals money To keep up with changing technology trends and techniques it is vital for businesses to be able to change and adapt to stay ahead of their competitors Unfortunately when change occurs it also creates something else resistances to that change my members of the organization This paper explores this daunting issue by means of research found in scholarly journals and articles The problem at hand will be properly defined and typescauses will be explored Lastly various techniques for alleviating this issue will be presented When change is needed within an organization there are two forces involved forces applied in support of the change and those applied against the change Hayes 2010 characterized this with Lewins theory of behavior being maintained in a quasi-stationary equilibrium held in place with opposite driving and restraining forces Some may support a strong top down approach focusing solely on increasing the driving forces for change Lewin however believed that where change is brought about by increasing the forces pushing for change this increases the tension experienced by those affected by the change Pg 441 This is why many have focused research into decreasing the restraining forces or the resistance to the change This resistance to change and efforts to decrease will be examined within this paper To review a topic such as resistance to change it is important to first define it Next one must review the different types of resistance and determine the causes of it Lastly various ways of reducing this resistance will be examined In todays society and business culture there is a constant need for change New technology and ways of thinking are evolving in real times which require a shift in the status quo Agboola Salawu 2011 states that resistance to change in its most basic
