So does sugar really causes diabetes In order to answer this question we first need to understand what type two diabetes is According to the textbook that we are using in the classroom Type two diabetes is a disorder that is characterized by high blood glucose Wardlaw Smith Collene 2011 According to Wardlaw 2010 when you have a high blood glucose that means that you either do not have enough insulin in your body or your body cannot use the insulin properly and if you do not treat this problem correctly the effect of this is that your vessels become thicker and less elastic making it hard for blood to squeeze through One of the reasons why one might research this question to better understand what causes type two diabetes Another reason why I wanted to know the answer to this question is because I used to eat a lot of different foods that contained a high sugar levels The answer to the question is sugar is not the direct cause of diabetesAfter researching the question in a textbook that we use in our classroom I have found that type two diabetes is not directly associated with consuming a lot of sugar Instead it says that 80 of the type two diabetes cases are associated with obesity Wardlaw Smith Collene 2011 From this we can say that a lot of people who consume great amounts of sugar do not have an obesity problem Wardlaw 2010 also says that type two diabetes is also genetically linked so family history is an important risk factor That means even if youre consuming acceptable amounts of sugar or even avoid it by all means one still may be in risk to be diagnosed with type two diabetes because of ones genetic makeup Another source used to find the answer to question was journal article that I have found online This article explained a study that was done
