Internationalization and globalization throughout European and Danish higher education have sparked debate in Denmark over the medium of instruction and the validity of English as an international language As a consequence Danish universities now offer more courses and more degrees in English Haastrup 2008 p 205 Due to rapid demand of English instructed courses the lecturing staff lack adequate training and there has been a disregard of upgrading English competences In addition screening does not exist by employers to verify that the language skills of the lecturing staff are adequate to perform the task Haastrup 2008 p 206 As a result students have complained about the lack of quality of these programs in regards to what they perceive as bad English although the precise issues of what is inadequate needs to be examined systematically Haastrup 2008 p 205 Consequently as a result of the recent phenomenon faculties such as the CIP Centre of Internationalisation and Parallel Languages at the University of Copenhagen support voluntary training development courses in order to provide a solid foundation to ensure quality in university English-medium studies so academic and administrative staff can communicate effectively in order to adapt to the resurgent changes The purpose of the study is to view the issue from Lifelong learning perspective as it is an issue in Quality Management This study is qualitative and follows an epistemic approach as it analyzes how knowledge relates to truth belief and justification It is important to keep in mind when I speak of teaching in English I am not referring to English teachers but academics at the university level in Denmark who must now teach their course material supervise students present paper presentations submit publications and perform other day to day interactions in the English language as a medium of communication as a result of internationalization As Danish academics interact with international colleagues and students using the English language as a medium of communication in
