The criminal justice field is an ever evolving field As todays technology changes so does the way the criminal justice field interacts with that technology As our society changes the technology that we use will also be altered to fit the situation The barriers that come along can effect how the criminal justice field interprets what to do next For instance there has been a trend in new technology that is used by criminals that the criminal justice system has to comply with and combat Keeping up with the changes in society is a vital part of our criminal justice Throughout the years the connections among the criminal justice system and society have changed and there is a continuing change It is important that the criminal justice system any parts and society to have a connection or a relationshipIn society today we rely on our police to protect us in any ways that they can Citizens want to be able to walk the streets and feel safe doing this Society wants to feel safe in their homes or whereever they are In the past the way police patrolled was totally different from how they do it now In the late 1800s and the early 1900s people were or thought that they were safe within their own communities Police officers would walk the streets patrolling the neighborhood standing on street corners talking to the neighbors in the community and getting to know the people who they help protect That was when citizens and police officers knew one another on a first name basis when citizens felt police officers cared about them and what went on in their community During this era citizens felt safer and had a better relationship with the police The result of this was a community that was not fearful and that trusted of their justice system When policing changed so did the technology By the mid-1900s new technology had a significant influence
