We currently live in an era were the rules are being rewritten with changes in the way people communicate and how they communicate When it comes to information this is the most rapid period of technological transformation affecting each generation with in our society Generation is a key variable when viewing peoples different social experiences with information technology The information technology revolution and its outcomes have different views that can be referred to as the digital melting pot and the digital divide Generations become divided into digital natives and digital immigrants For each generation the IT revolution has benefits while also raising concerns Digital natives are described as people with insider status under the age of thirty who were born into a world full of information technology Digital natives study work write and interact with others easy and fast with IT Any information they need they can access any task without it being time consuming Rather than face to face contact they can use text messaging or instant messenger to have conversation These digital natives are connected to one another by their common way of life Large portions of their lives are dictated by digital technologies and they have never socially experienced life in any other manner To these digital natives information technology is a positive aspect of our society and frowns upon adults who do not understand how to use it and or choose not to use it Digital natives believe they are of higher status because they are up to date on this new found way of communicating and easy access to information through technology When looking past this generation of digital natives we find the digital immigrants who struggle to adapt to this new way of living regarding information technology They are described as the generation of
