Most teens have a curfew I can remember having one up to age sixteen This was something that was enforcedto the extremein my household My parents treated us as young adults Rules were set in place so my siblings and I were very familiar with what was expected from us Overall as a young teen I was disciplined in regards to curfew once in my lifeIf rules were not followed my parents dealt with us accordinglyViolence began to occur often involving teens Laws were enforced to both parents and teens By law in all states teenagers should have a set curfew at ten oclock in the evening Monday through Thursday In Chicago Illinois violence rates have increased dramatically with that being said a majority of the situations involve teens Therefore a new curfew law was created in 2010 Under Chicagos new rules children under twelve must be inside by eight thirty in the evening Sunday through Thursday unless supervised by guardian On Friday and Saturday their curfew is nine oclock in the evening For children ages twelve to sixteen their curfew is ten oclock in the evening but on weekends it iseleven oclock at night Now that the states have become extremely strict they have created the three strikes youre out rule The first two times will be considered a warning and documented Third the officer will issue a citation in the amount of one-thousand-five-hundred dollars and can lead to community service served by the parent or guardian Honestly I strongly believe that the law is over-all fair Due to the violence the majority teens are effected To prevent teens from getting involved in bad situations this is where the curfew law becomes helpful and effective In addition by having a curfew law it helps keep teens out of trouble It is best to be a responsible parentguardian to know your childs location For example if a robbery occurs past curfew hours and a
