The 1960s was a time in America that most people will say was like no other it was considered the years that shaped a generation Just through that decade so many huge American moments happened that will never be forgotten There was John F Kennedy who some believe was the greatest American president who was shot and killed Then there was civil right movement progressed so much through the sixties with a leader named Martin Luther King Jr who was also shot and killed There was also time of national fear of nuclear attacks from the Soviet Union during the Cold War and also people being able to view the Vietnam War as the first televised war Many rock stars and musicians such as Bob Dylan who wrote and sang about protest There were rallies and protest of college students The student movement worked primarily to fight racism and poverty increase student rights and to end the Vietnam War How could anyone forget the people who were labeled or considered hippies that were against authority and the normal values of society Kennedy stood up for freedom and democracy African-Americans stood up against racism and segregation the young people stood up against traditional beliefs and practices and women stood up against gender inequality One of the most famous and arguably the best president the United States ever had was John F Kennedy also known as JFK He was also the youngest president to be elected and the youngest president to be assassinated Kennedy was born on May 29 1917 in Massachusetts He attended Harvard University and enrolled into the Navy in 1943 Kennedy has been viewed as a fearless leader and even back in the Navy this was shown when his boat was rammed and sunk by the Japanese After having serious injuries Kennedy rescued fellow survivorsYears later in 1960 Kennedy ran for president as a
