What were to happen if more than 100 million votes came down to a decision of 9 judges This was the case in the 2000 Presidential Election between George W Bush and Al Gore The 2000 Presidential Election resulted in Governor George Bush obtaining the Presidency based upon a Supreme Court ruling to end a Florida recount The initial backlash from the decision resulted in an outpour of arguments from historians and other analysts that the Supreme Court decision was based on bipartisan ideas but as the years past the decision was more accepted by historians and the public In a recent book about the 2000 Presidential Election historian Charles Zelden argued that historians and the public should not forget about the election such willful historical amnesia about a pivotal electoral and constitutional crisis resolved by an unprecedented and controversial Supreme Court decision is a mistake Here Zelden argued that the Supreme Court decision was an outrageous ruling that had no strong constitutional evidence With the argument outlining the Courts decision with controversy the questions arise of was this a basic decision of a Constitutional violation or were there external factors contributing to the decision Also what would the repercussions be if any for decisions that a Supreme Court makes due to external factors swaying the decision The anticipation for election makes every political analysis and broadcaster but even the most hopeful analysis could not craft an election as exciting as the 2000 Presidential Election The election was close up until the very last vote and it almost literally came down to it as well Florida was the last state to be counted and its 25 Electoral College votes are what both candidates needed to clinch victory The election in Florida would come down to only a margin victory for Governor George Bush Florida law required a recount of the votes This would led
