The American dream is to obtain simple things such as a stable family opportunity and a sense of freedom However others who have already attained these desires look forward to wealth and fame Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none elsesinging with open mouths their strong melodious songs Whitman Everyone sings and strives toward his or her own melody or dream The basic American dream varies for each person depending on certain positive and negative factors but not everyone actually achieves itIn todays society people believe the American dream has many diverse meanings To some the American dream centers on financial aspects while to others it is a more personal goal Many people claim that the American dream is freedom and security even through the hard times today Others shift their definition to a more adaptable form as in if you want to hold on to it then you better define it differently SeelyeUnfortunately not everyone has an equal opportunity to pursue the American dream because of differences in social status There are other people who live in poverty that do not have the same opportunity as the average American This idea applies to other countries as well India which has limited resources and a low standard of living the desires are probably reduced to meet their restrictions In contrast Japan has advanced technology and a high standard of living so their dreams resemble that of Americas dreams Many countries just look up at America and really do see the land of opportunity When the Dutch settle they see a fresh green breast of the new world Fitzgerald Race and identity are two exceptions to this statement Besides theyll see how beautiful I am and be ashamed- I too am America Hughes This quote exemplifies that race does not matter because America makes up a country of diversely racial individuals each trying to accomplish their goals Everything is not what it
