The American Dream is a set of goals that each individual sets for themselves Everyone has different goals but they are all associated with happiness and success The opportunity of achieving personal goals is the most appealing aspect of America However that opportunity is not fairly given to everyone and the citizens that do achieve their dream die slowly from greed What good is having dreams if they are not achievable For most people having a decent job and providing for their family is an ideal dream Sadly many Americans are not able to achieve this due to circumstances they can not control one being the economic status you are born into People of the same economic status usually only see each other which leads to them usually marrying each other Richard Fry states that this happens because people look for educated spouses because they are usually provide a better income Pewsocialtrendsorg This means that the rich stays rich and get better opportunities because they have people to help them that know the path to becoming successful This is similar to the British government in how power is focused in one spot The power focused in one spot is one of the reasons the colonies rebelled If power is focused into one spot there isnt a check and balance system Because of this there are less opportunities to accomplish your dreams Essentially the lives of the colonist were useless because they built a society that they tried to avoid There are a few Americans that are able to change their economic status but you are not able to change your race Race plays a major role in available opportunities For example look at the scholarships based off race A persons race has nothing to do with their ability to process information Why should someone be awarded money for something that they had no ability to change Race also affects what you do and
