According the Merriam-Webster dictionary the American Dream can be defined as an American social ideal that stresses egalitarianism and especially material prosperityalsothe prosperity or life that is the realization of this ideal With that said where in this sentence does it state that one must be solely truly American Speaking of being American when you start to think back no one other than a Native American can truly call themselves an American We are all children of immigrants As I was watching the Dream Act my heart went out to these students I cannot imagine wanting to go to school or going as a matter of fact knowing that I will not receive a job at the end because the government does not recognize me as a citizen I could understand if these people were not trying to make themselves a valuable citizen but these students are extremely hard workers and are fighting for their dreams So many American citizens today dont take advantage of the opportunity we are given I never have to worry about immigration coming to my door and taking me away nor do I have to worry about never getting a job that I am qualified to do just because of my legal status That box is very easy for me to check off as yes whereas for many others its the biggest problem they are facing Some Americans may argue that these undocumented people are getting paid under the table and taking jobs away but who are they to judge These so called undocumented people love this country so much they are willing to become a Marine and risk dying for this country but cant One wants to be a doctor but lives scared due to deportation These are not worries they should be facing The government needs to look back on what founded this country because if they are going to start saying immigrants are not allowed well
