Asia-Pacific region is the most populated region in the world Therefore it is not surprising that it hosted nearly 1 of all the 4 migrants-53 million of 191 million UNDESA2004 Also this regions migration history has a very long roots since the Migration Period which shaped the modern Europe from Central Asia CastlesMiller2009 That means people in this region have been immigrating for centuries for some particular reasons When we look at the last movements it is clearly seen that reasons of that are some government policies like family reunion projects management of ethnic homogeneity or making of a new project rapid economic growth of some Asian countries refugees forcing people to move and brain drain especially in case of India and Japan These are main reasons but sure there may be some special issues such as reunifications separations and some internal conflicts This essay will examine some of these reasons that I mentioned before and their consequences with a political socio-economic point of viewAsian countries have very strict rules for migration and migrants rights They just want temporary migration and do not allow to family reunions Hugo2005 The governments see migration as a threat for nation-state and their all policies try to make migration just as a temporary movement rather than giving migrants a citizenship or permanent resident permit Castles2004bAnd also they generally hire migrants for 3D jobsdirty dangerous and difficult Because of these insensitive rules and policies internal migration is a very popular trend among Asian countries but developed countries like Japan and South Korea take migration from less developed countries such as Sri Lanka Vietnam or Philippines Although they give work permit for them they generally dont support to give permanent residence for them For instance in Japan foreign population was 2 million in 2005 OECD2007349 but only 39 percent of them has permanent residence permit MOJ2006 These percentages are going up every year but the governments still have a
