That fateful day started out as any other studying flash cards with my friends for Ms Hicks vocabulary test Over the intercom Mr Brigance or Mr B as everyone calls himbegan to start the daily announcements The same as any other day he called out club meetings and tells of important dates for ACT testing But today he would announce winner of the raffle Previously my friends and I all bought tickets A friend of ours was begging us to purchase one from her None of us ever expected to win The numbers we had were 5-1-5 5-1-6 and 5-1-7 Against all odds Mr B called out all three of these numbers In our amazement we all glanced at each other with the happiest faces anyone has ever seen The prize of winning the raffle was a trip to Dingle Island He also announced that each winner should report immediately to the office What a great thing to happen All three of us going to Dingle Island I said A trip with you two sounds pretty boring actually Sam saysOuch that hurt Conner saysYou know I am only kidding dude Sam yelledWhatever Meet up at my house after school I askedI cant Conner saysWhy not Sam and I both question at the same timeI have to go do something Conner saysSam and I both walked away with the suspicious that Conner is going home to play his brand new Sky wars game As we reached the office we are greeted by Mr B with a handshake and a hand filled with three separate tickets The date of the scheduled arrival is September thirteenth a Friday Friday the thirteenth what a great day to take a vacation somewhere which I have never beenI chuckledAs the day continued we are being congratulated by several of people in the hallway It felts pretty goodThe day of the trip arrived And just as any other important event that I
