1861 to 1865 four years of complete bloodshed to battle out the differences between the North and the South General George Meade led the North also known as the Union and General Robert E Lee led the South also known as the Confederate The civil war was the bloodiest and largest military that has ever existed The division between the free north and the slaveholding south erupted into a large conflict This war resulted in the emancipation of four million enslaved African American Before the war the North and south differed greatly from economic issues But it all went to hell at The Battle of Gettysburg where the first shot was blasted Within those 4 years the bloodshed added up to more than all other American wars combined There were plenty of wars that devastated the country but the Battle of Gettysburg was the King of Devastation when it comes to all of the American wars With a tremendous effect on the civil war out of 88000 northern troops 23000 troops were killed or wounded Also out of 75000 confederate troops 28000 troops were killed or wounded According to my resources they believe that the Battle of Gettysburg was the battle when our nation has officially been saved The norths general General Meade took over the army 3 days before the war had begun In my opinion that is the definition of a leader With defeat in their hands and all of those soldiers that had been killed studies have shown the confederate troops never recovered from the Battle of Gettysburg In a battle or a fight somebody ALWAYS has an advantage on the opponent In the Battle of Gettysburg the advantages played a huge role on who would come out with the victory The Norths advantages were very crucial They had a bigger population of people so a bigger population more people to fight They also had a large quantity of factories so they
