Simplicity is bliss and the most simple place in the world is Grandma Chamberlains patio Grandmas house is a two hour drive By driving two hours north to the small farming town of Fremont we seemed to be traveling two decades back in time The journey never seems to happen enough The fast paced scheduled world of today seems to keep me from visiting the relaxed worry free lifestyle that is present while visiting Grandma Grandpa made his living as a farming semi truck driver Grandma took care of her five kids and helped them tend to the farm The small farm house was home to many of my fathers memories before I began to create my own As we pass the round meatball shaped house and cross over the railroad tracks the big rusted red silow comes into view Next we take the left on to Fangboner Road and another left into the driveway labeled by a yard sign Chamber-lane Greeted by full and vibrant flowered bushes it is clear that we are visiting Grandma To the right we see the two barns long ago used to store cattle chickens and tractors Now they sit empty for the most part except for some old mowers and a couple of dead birds Beyond the barns are acres and acres of fields Grandma lives on an island surrounded by amber waves of grain and we are simply her urban visitors She manages to make her greeting to each of the five grandkids sincere accompanied by warm embraces and the smell of chocolate chip cookies From here we walk to the sheltered patio where we will spend a majority of the visit I find myself a comfortable lawn chair and grab a bowl of potato chips This old worn lawnchair takes the role of supporting my behind as I sit sit and listen to the endless stories and conversations bringing me much more wisdom and entertainment than
