IS Abercrombie Selling Sex Abercrombie and Fitch is sexually exploiting men and women Abercrombie claims they cater to 18-22 year olds but they have recently established Abercrombie Kids which appeals to 7-14 year olds The companys catalog contains pages upon pages of nudity How is this supposed to sell clothing Abercrombie is a specialty retailer of casual clothing and accessories for men women and kids Abercrombie has over 250 stores nationwide the company started out as an outdoor apparel supplier but has sense been transformed into a source of upscale casual clothing for a youthful and fashion conscious market Abercrombie maintains this image with promotional material focusing on partially clothed-teens in hot trends To me it seems that if you want to sell your clothing wouldnt you want your models dressed in your clothing Abercrombies magazine features models in the nude and posing in sexual ways To me this is sending an inaccurate message to consumers When I think of Abercrombie I think of an all American image this to me suggests a clean-cut image After seeing some of the pictures that were published I was shocked mostly because I couldnt figure out what Abercrombie was trying to sell me One picture that stood out to me was one of a male model completely nude and wrapped in ivy the model had no clothing on and nowhere could I see the Abercrombie logo I think Abercrombie needs to get its ad campaign together and decide on an image they can stick with The company claims they target 18-22 year olds but in reality the marketing is aimed at teens in general The claim that Abercrombies biggest customers are college aged may have only been to counteract the negative feedback they received from their ads Abercrombie has recently introduced toned-down Abercrombie stores with their target 7-14 year olds These stores featured a line of underwear thongs with messages such as wink-wink and eye candy printed
