I never would have imagined that the most beautiful event of my life would be accompanied by a symphony of gore and painful moans My girlfriend Harley had just given birth to our 8 pound baby girl Abigayle Rayanne Wright I was in complete awe as I gazed upon the child that she and I had created By the time my daughter had taken her first breath on this planet I was a completely different person than I was just 7 months before Some changes were subtle and hardly noticeable but for me having a child changed the very essence of who I was and who I wanted to be Knowing I had a child on the way changed me almost instantaneously Immediately it was time to start preparing I had to ask for more hours at work because I knew diapers were not going to be cheap A heavier work load and taking care of my pregnant girlfriend meant leaving behind the party life I was accustomed to More importantly it was time for me to shoulder the responsibility of being the man of the house I knew I had to get a better job or at least take strides forward to a better life For me this meant enrolling in school and getting Harley and myself into our own living situation I was already making huge life changes and still had months before my daughter was going to be here Some of the changes I experience were more subtle in nature such as the way I looked at Harley For eight months I watched as she went through the gestation process and she was miserable Her body had changed she could not sleep and she constantly had the urge to go to the bathroom While for the most part she hated these changes I admired them I loved her before but watching her endure
