When reading this story it brought me to a place of sadness and into a womans point of view on the world in the early 1920s On how sometimes women feel about certain situations A very eye opening story to me The first part of the story really just give you a feel of her surroundings and where the story will be taking place She gives off a very sad vibe when describing this Then she goes on to talk about what she is doing Elisa the woman is a gardener and a regular house wife and her husband Henry is a rancher of some sort Now Henry came across to me as a hardworking simple minded regular man that doesnt pay attention to his wife like he should Now Elisa loves to grow chrysanthemums Her whole life pretty much reveals around them As she was gardening one day an old but young looking man with beard pulled up on a wagon with poorly spelled and written words on the side of it He went up to her making small talk at fist Then started to tell her about his job and how he travels long distances sharping knifes and fixing things Elisa actually liked his style of living Then the man asked her does she have any work for him to do She replies no at first After being shot down he asked her about her chrysanthemums She lite up when talking about them and went into detail when explaining He asked her for some to take to this lady down the road that wanted some She gave him some seeds out of the soil and put it in a pot He continued to make her feel bad that hes had no work today and he probably wont eat and has to sleep in his wagon She finally breaks down and gives him two pans to
