Bridget's feedback:
"As your reader, I really appreciate the straightforward organization and structure of your essay, as well as the use of clear signposting, including topic sentences, and transitional phrases. Overall, this essay is really easy to follow, allowing your reader to focus on the discussion and examples from the text.
I noticed a few instances of quotations followed by reiterations of what happened in the quote (e.g., speaking politely to the Lady of the Lake, which could be boiled down to 1-2 sentences, including the quotation, rather than a step-by-step summary). Keep looking for other instances where you can streamline the use of evidence and keep things moving.
As I close my comments, I want to check in on two things. First, I notice all the evidence comes from the same two or three pages. Whether this is appropriate will really depend on your prompt and project. Review your prompt; if you are crafting an analysis of the entire text, you will need to broaden the use of evidence and extend your discussion accordingly. Second, can you incorporate historical sources? In this draft, the ideas of medievalism, knights, and chivalry are restricted to the text and general knowledge (of a time period where our general knowledge is often very shaky, e.g., "feudalism"). This can work, but keeping in mind that you are dealing with a story written about alleged events a thousand years after the fact, confronting this could be a productive task, including why Malory might have used this legend to make a point about the morals and behaviors of his own age."
