I am barely old enough to remember the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001 In fact my memories of the day are likely false They are probably just a composite of media reports from the days and weeks afterwards even the years that followed wherein the falling of the World Trade Centers the panic and fear seen in handheld video recordings and the media narratives have filled the space in my mind where the actual memory of that day once existed I was only eight after all So I think I remember it But I may not really Its kind of like looking at a picture of your fourth birthday party and thinking you remember it but you really only remember the picture and so think you remember the actual party However I am positive I remember asking myself in the years that followed especially in middle and high school based on the societal discussions surrounding this tragedy if I was a true patriot Certainly love of ones country specifically in and of the United States of America can take many forms and several are often either overlooked or disregarded however I have realized that this should not beThe most obvious forms of patriotism are the ones everyone sees on national holidays No one is unfamiliar with Flag Day fireworks on the fourth of July Thanksgiving Memorial Day honorees and Martin Luther King Jr day Each of these and more finds US citizens embracing particular events or people that define this country Even the Super Bowl carries with it a sense of national pride The symbols of these days and this country as well like the flag or the Statue of Liberty also remind of us of love of country and all it stands for All citizens are familiar too with the terminology that accompanies such patriotic displays freedom liberty and justice This
