The librarian will give out the information to the police officer because she is permitted to by the law however if it was illegal she should not give out the persons personal information because she would have to face the conscious and take responsibility if the person does not turn out to be the rapierBy the law it is the librarians job to give the police officer any information that may help the investigation to find the rapier The law states Subsection g disclosure to an institution or a law enforcement agency in Canada to aid an investigation undertaken with a view to a law enforcement proceeding or from which a law enforcement proceeding is likely to result Therefor she would not have to face any charges or worry about losing her job if that person who called in was not the rapier However if this law did not exist and its part of the librarian job to keep personal information private no matter what then the librarian should not give out the information The librarian may face major conscious even if the caller turns out to be the rapier it could destroy her career First she could be charge for giving out the information even if the caller was the rapier because in the end she did break the law she may not face that big of a charge if it turns out be the rapier she may be seen as a hero however if it turns out not to be a the rapier she may be in bigger trouble If the caller was not the rapier the charges toward the librarian would be much higher because in this situation she broke the law and humiliated a person The caller would be distressed because if the cops went to his house and took him down to the police situation and question him about raping a women he would feel auger and upset and also
