Introduction In the next pages of this research I will explore the core concepts of love body image and self esteem continuing by linking them to two basic counselling and psychotherapy concepts Due to the fact that I value both Psychodynamic and Person Centred Approaches as well as for purposes of ethical research I will investigate and explain further the tangled themes of love and self esteem through the concepts of Attachment Theory by John Bowlby 1969 and Conditions of Worth by Carl Rogers 1961 There have been many studies exploring the link between love or romantic passion and attachment theory Throughout the first part of the literature review I link the above concepts and then I explain how people with different types of attachment secure and insecure react in everyday life in addition to how they behave in their intimate relationships either sexual or romantic Moving on to the second part of literature review I examine closely how self esteem affects peoples intimate relationships which in turn play a key role into individuals body image Even though I have not found any evidence that bridge the gap between conditions of worth and self esteem I give an explanation and link the two concepts Both of the above parts are explained throughout an extensive research in literature and evidence is found among the most significant and well known studies that have been conducted through the years Love and Attachment Theory Love is patient love is kind It does not envy it does not boast it is no proud It is no rude it is no self seeking it is no easily angered it keeps no record of wrongs It always protects always trusts always hopes always preserves 1 Corinthians 13 4 7 Since the dawn of our species human beings in every time and place of the earth have contended with an unruly emotional core that many times behaves in unpredicted
