Power is defined as political or national strength an ability to do an act in order to accomplish control or show possession over ones authority In all the society around the world power is illusive whether it is used positively or negatively Many individual with power may not take advantage of it However some abuse the right to having their power through authority by manipulating strategies that leads to iniquitous terrible outcomes Throughout The Kite Runner Hoessini explores the corruption of power through characters and cultures in Afghanistan He uses power as an idea to create circumstances and challenges for the characters in the novel The novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hoesseini uses various styles to portray an outlook on the way power is abused in a negative aspect Firstly Baba a rich man well respected business man has his own beliefs yet violates the use of power by going against his values and morals Furthermore Assef a half German and half Afghani with a lot of power takes his powers to the next level by abusing those ability by controlling ones action Lastly the Talibans who are dominated by people with Pashtun ethnic identity infringed ability by controlling Afghanistan from 1996 until 2001 To begin Baba a wealthy man known as a hero and leader in Kabul uses his wealth and status to demand and show his power The well known businessman Baba teaches others about good deeds and cultural beliefs whereas he opens orphanage and helps the poor However amongst doing good deed he also does many dreadful actions Baba who sees his servant Ali a Hazara as a brother sleeps with his wife Sanaubar the mother of Hassan than later runs off to join a circus When Farid friend of Amir asked him why he came to save the child he says My instinct was to say yes as if on some deep level I too wanted to protect
