Growing up in CT allowed me to be a part of many memorable academic experiences The experience I encountered during my journey through the public school system have been unforgettable My school had the privileged to take the students on many fieldtrips so the students could experience life outside our sheltered townWhen I was a junior in highschool one of the elective classes I enrolled myself in was Humanities In Humanities class you learn about different neighborhoods in both Connecticut and in New York City On one of the trips we took to the city to experience how life was inside the neighborhoods groups were assigned to all of the members of the class and each group visited the place they were assigned to go to and had asked to go I had to honor of visiting an inner-city high school Upon my entrance to the high school I really did not know what to expect and how I was going to be greeted by the students whose school I was intrudingBefore I entered the school West Side High School I was greeted by two NYPD police officers Thus I began to reminiss about the movie sunset park where there were riots and fights in the hallways After I passed by the two officers who guarded the school at all times I realized the stereo type of inner city schools was not apparent in West Side High School While I was walking around the halls and going to classes I had an epiphany My epiphany is that if you throw out all the stereo types you hear and see on television and go into every situation with an open mind you will succeed When you through out all of the prejudice views you hold you will become a better person and more people will like you for who you areMy time at the high school had to come to an end because the school day
