Texting while driving has become a major problem in the United States over the past few years Though most people will argue that it does not impact them very much texting and driving have very serious consequences that can change ones life in just a split second Over the years the problem has become more serious due to the fact that technology has been on an uprising for the past decade or so The distractions accidents and illegal issues of texting and driving are just a few of the many reasons one should not partake in this activityDistraction takes over everyone at some point in his or her day The problem is this should not be happening while one is at the wheel of a car The safest way to drive would be to turn off the music have hands at ten and two on the stirring wheel and checking mirrors frequently Unfortunately none of this really happens because most people do not realize how important these things are when it comes to driving Adding texting into the mix makes matters even worse When sending a text the drivers eyes automatically are taken off of the road to focus on the text they are sending Some may argue that it only takes their eyes off the road for just a couple of seconds so no harm is being done but in a couple of seconds many things can take place If a child comes running into the street looking down at a phone to send a text is not acceptable This could result in a horrific accident that could possibly put the driver in jail and a child in a hospital Another scenario to think about is what if the driver is looking down at their phone for a couple of seconds and the car in front of them decide to halt to a stop It may be to late by the time the driver
