Whether to spank or not to spank a child is a controversial topic in western countries In the Spanking Law section 43 of the Criminal Code says controversial in that it expressively offers parents and teachers defense when they use reasonable force to discipline a child The Canadian charter gives permission to parents to spank their children This is wrong due to the fact that parents can take advantage of the law Parents in todays society may not only use spanking as a means of punishment but they may also abuse their children for no reason and use the excuse of punishment instead Parents believe that the law allows for parents to spank so when their children are misbehaving they can spank them However sometimes it is possible that spanking a child can cross its limits Some parents think that kicking punching and shaking their children are considered spanking or punishing which according to the law it is abuse That is why it is wrong to spank a child and it should be illegal In accordance to the Criminal Code parents are allowed to use reasonable force for disciplinary reasons but getting abusive with a child is wrong and its violating the law Statistic shows that ninety percent of parents at some point will shake their children The word abuse is often connected to spanking on the buttocks kicking or hitting a child on any part of their body Even using an object such as a belt or a spoon is considered abuse Most parents believe that spanking is the only answer for discipline in the house and that reasoning or talking with the child wont help Spanking should not be allowed even if children are not behaving right because spanking can be harmful for children and in the future it can cause a child to resent their parents Children who experienced abuse or spanking can grow to face serious health problems in
