It has been a decade in the making but biking has become a passion for many people and has also become the most environmental way to get from point A to point B The sport evolved from simple biking over the past decade into major competition on many levels It all started with some California bikers who went out for a ride one day and decided to modified their bikes to fit their riding style It turned into a hobby and eventually turned into competition of freestyle and BMX racing Later naturalists turned leisurely mountain biking into a downhill competition The rapid increase in popularity was influenced by social and economic trends but more so by technological improvements that had the needs of the riders in mind In the past bikes changed aesthetically in design and color Now bikes were designed for specific riding styles and the introduction of mountain bikes and BMX bikes changed the world of cycling Performance was a primary concern Technological advances came extremely fast from the input of competitive riders and manufacturers attempt to keep pace with the demands of each sport The advances have made riding bikes on different terrain easier which made it possible for the rider to explore new territory Because of the increasing popularity of mountainbmx bikes the demand for changes specific to each riding style had to come about very rapidly The evolution of mountainbmx bikes has been a stormy one over the past ten to twenty years Bmx biking and mountian biking both turned into major competitive sports and although they share similarities there are differences as well Both riding styles require skill and strength Both have competitions with a similar racing format that include qualifying heats and a championship race The tracks are different
