The fourteenth to nineteenth century art exhibit at the High Museum of Arts has a wide veriety of sculptures paintings and pottery The art on display comes from the renaissance era and most of the art on display was paid for by churches The motivation of the art on display was to show the power and prestige of European churches during medieval times The exhibit featured many different artists even some art work in which the artist was unknown One of the artworks available to the exhibit with an unknown artist is the Bust of a Man believed to be a sculpture of monk Saint Jerome Artist included in the exhibit were Vittore Carpaccio Benvenuto Tisi Nicolas Tournier and Giovanni Battista Gaulli just to name a few The paintings in the exhibit had a variety of color The shapes in the painting were mainly of people and they were proportionate Most of the paintings used dramatic lighting Most of the paintings were made on canvases but some were painted on copper The sculptures on display for the exhibit where made from terracotta bronze wood porcelain and marble Only the sculpture made from porcelain incorporated colors the rest of the sculptures on display maintained their mediums natural color The sculptures were realistic and included extreme details The pottery on display was made from ceramic porcelain earthenware and glass The pottery included bright colors and came in a variety of shapes and sizes I thought the art in the exhibit included wonderful pieces of art The details in the sculpture grabbed my attention I spent more time looking at sculptures than the paintings and pottery combined The art on display for this exhibit was from the renaissance and the Baroque art period
